Heiko Claussen
SVP, Artificial Intelligence Technology
Heiko Claussen is Senior Vice President at AspenTech, leading the AI Shared Services group. He is responsible for Industry 4.0 strategy, AI research and shared services to foster synergies and innovation.
He was previously Head of Autonomous Machines and Principal Key Expert of AI at Siemens and led initiatives to enable autonomous machine applications for factory automation. During his 15-year tenure at Siemens, he worked in many areas related to AI and digitization, including remote monitoring, machine learning, robotics, pattern recognition and statistical signal processing. He is a recipient of numerous technical awards and recognitions and is the author of over 100 registered inventions with 67 granted/published patents.
Heiko holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Southampton, UK, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Ulster, UK and a Dipl.-Ing degree in electrical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Kempten, Germany.
Amos Wagon
VP, User Experience
Amos Wagon drives the UX vision for AspenTech, setting the standards for over 100 market-leading products helping the world’s largest and most complex industries commit to net zero.
He leads a global team on a mission to humanize industrial software and devise simple and elegant solutions for complex problems. He has over 20 years of experience leading UX in both startups and prominent technology companies.
Dimitrios Varvarezos
Technology Fellow
Dr. Dimitri Varvarezos is a Technology Fellow at AspenTech, responsible for leading, formulating and supporting the technology strategy, including technology planning, research activities, technical collaborations, M&A technology due diligence and promoting a culture of innovation across the company.
He joined AspenTech through the company’s acquisition of DMCC in 1996 and pioneered the development and lead the successful deployment of novel modeling and optimization solutions in the areas of real-time optimization, refining and petrochemical planning, scheduling and blending, as well as primary and secondary distribution. Prior to his current role, he was leading the Petroleum Supply Chain technology organization.
He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the author of many US and international patents, and the award-winning author of numerous peer-reviewed articles. He has been the organizer and invited speaker at international conferences and the recipient of several academic and industrial awards. He holds a BSE degree in chemical engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University.
Chris Vavra
VP, Product Management
Chris Vavra is the product leader responsible for the AspenTech Platform, transforming how our market-leading industrial optimization solutions are delivered and adopted. He has more than 20 years of experience managing successful platforms that serve the world’s leading industrial sector organizations. With this experience, he brings IT expertise in application platforms, business automation, application integration, data platforms and cloud deployment.
He has an MBA from Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
Shu Wang
Distinguished Technologist
Shu Wang leads Distinguished Technologies sustainability research team, responsible for research and development, decarbonization and energy transition solutions for process industry. He has more than 20 years of experience on thermodynamic and process modeling.
He holds a PhD from University of Delaware, specialized in thermodynamics.
